Bellefontaine softball standout Laila Butler recently signed her letter of intent with Division I Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi.
The senior catcher said playing college softball has been a goal since she was 8 years old.
Butler added, “I chose ASU because playing at the Division I level has been a dream. I also really liked the coaches.”
She also considered Denison and Coastal Carolina.
Laila has maintained a 3.8 grade point average at BHS.
She plans on majoring in biology.
Her goals are to get on the field as a freshman and help her team succeed.
Alcorn State was the first black land-grant college established in the United States.
The university competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
