The Chieftain Girls Tennis team traveled to Kenton Wednesday night and came away with a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Wildcats.
For the second night in a row, the match came down to the wire.
Sophomore Harley Neer secured the win with a third-set victory, playing some of her best tennis when it mattered most.
In the varsity matches:
- 1st Singles: Ava Dolan (B) def. A. Van Horn 6-1, 6-0
- 2nd Singles: P. Wilson def. Olivia Warye (B) 6-2, 6-2
- 3rd Singles: Harley Neer (B) def. M. Stanforth 4-6, 6-4, 6-0
- 1st Doubles: Mia Brown / Rylee Crabtree (B) def. Stevenson / Vermillion 6-1, 6-1
- 2nd Doubles: Lowe / Nease def. Adison Postle / Maria Casanas (B) 6-3, 4-6, 6-1
In junior varsity action, the Chiefs’ intersquad match saw JV Doubles Charlie Hughes / Layla Hoyt (B) defeat Oriana Vasquez / Vanshika Shah (B) 8-4.
With the win, the Chiefs move to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the CBC. Their next match will be Thursday, August 28, at Jon Alder, starting at 4:30 p.m.
