Bellefontaine volleyball faced its toughest challenge yet, falling to a talented Jonathan Alder squad in straight sets: 25-10, 25-23, 25-17, marking their first loss of the season.
Jonathan Alder brought a ton of attacking power to the table, which proved to be too much. Pioneer standout outside hitter Ali Hayes earned her 1,000th kill during the second set.
Despite the setback, the Chiefs had standout performances across the board. Kelsie Snapp led the charge with an impressive 14 kills, 11 digs, perfect serving, and a solo block. Ava Layman added 9 kills, 7 digs, and went a flawless 13/13 from the service line. Madi Zedeker also served perfectly while dishing out 28 assists and contributing a block.
Defensively, Jillian Ullom anchored the back row with 15 digs and perfect serving. Kaeleigh Flora chipped in with 11 digs and 4 kills, while Presley Vigansky and Ari Rangel combined for 3 blocks at the net.
In junior varsity matches, JV Red battled hard but fell in three sets: 21-25, 25-19, 25-19.
Zoey Conner led with 8 kills, 8 digs, and went 8/9 serving. Ava Oppy added 5 kills, 6 digs, and was perfect from the line (16/16) with 3 aces. Lexey Brown contributed 6 digs and 2 kills, while Brooklyne Kuntz added 8 digs and a block. Alayna Boyd had 7 assists and 2 aces, and Rosie Lightle added 8 assists and 4 digs. Celine Blinn rounded out the defense with 6 digs.
JV Black came up short in two sets: 25-17, 25-13. Rosie Lightle had 6 digs, 3 aces, and 3 assists. Lexi McKirahan added 7 digs and perfect serving. Hailey Augustus had 3 digs and went 6/6 serving, while Ariane Moser added an ace and also served perfectly (6/6).
The Chiefs look to bounce back on Tuesday as they travel to face Tecumseh.
The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders traveled to Graham for their second Mad River CBC Division conference match. The Raiders beat the Falcons in straight sets: 25-11, 25-17, 25-12/

Courtney Altsteatter had 10 kills and 3 blocks. Cami Bailey had 10 kills, 4 aces and 9 digs, Mackenzie Miller had 6 kills and 19 digs, Annie Rapp had 5 kills, 2 blocks and was perfect on serving, Addyson Roby had 31 assists, 2 blocks, and was perfect on serving and Riley Ross had 12 digs.
The Indian Lake JV team lost in two sets to North Union on 25-14, 25-16.
Claire Tidwell had 6 kills, Piper Robinson had 3 blocks, and Lux Kipker had 7 assists.
The Riverside Lady Pirates played at Lehman, losing in straight sets: 25-23, 25-9, 25-12.
Makayla Hurley had 5 kills. Addison Shoe had 2 blocks. Emilee Robinson added 17 digs, and Chloe Purtee had 10 digs. Kara Klingler had 5 assists, and Zoey Ransbottom had 4 assists.
JV won in three: 25-15, 15-25, 25-16.
Addison Shoe led with 4 kills and 6 digs. Valerie Knight added 4 kills. Lily Zwiebel had 6 digs. Ellie Zwiebel had 15 assists and 5 aces.
The West Liberty-Salem Tigers traveled to Springfield Catholic Central for an OHC matchup and came away with a dominant win in straight sets: 25-11, 25-11, 25-10.
