On Tuesday night, the Chieftain Girls Tennis team traveled to Kenton Ridge for a varsity matchup, falling 1-4 to the Cougars.
In varsity singles action, Ava Dolan lost to K. Stary 6-0, 6-1 at 1st singles, Olivia Warye fell to K. Tosi 6-0, 6-1 at 2nd singles, and Harley Neer dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to X. J. Juarez at 3rd singles.
In doubles play, Mia Brown and Rylee Crabtree secured Bellefontaine’s lone win at 1st doubles, defeating Eubanks and Herzog 6-2, 6-2. Bellefontaine’s 2nd doubles team of Adison Postle and Maria Casanas fell 6-0, 6-0 to Whisher and Jenkins.
On the junior varsity side, Bellefontaine lost 3-0. JV doubles team Charlie Hughes and Vanshika Shah fell 6-0 to Williams/Williams, while singles competitors Layla Hoyt and Oriana Vasquez lost 6-0 to Alcarez and Sinner, respectively.
In exhibition matches, Dolan and Warye defeated Sabalenka and King 6-0, 6-0, while Casanas and Postle earned a 6-2 victory over Osaka and Gauff.
The Chieftains are now 2-3 overall and 0-3 in the CBC. Bellefontaine will return to action on Thursday, September 4, when they host Piqua at 4:30 p.m.
