Lady Chiefs, Lady Lakers battle back and secure wins – Wednesday Girls basketball results

Several area girls’ basketball teams were in CBC action Wednesday evening.

The Bellefontaine varsity team had a strong 3rd quarter to come back and defeat Benjamin Logan 43-36.

The Lady Chiefs were slow to start, down 15-10 at the half, but outscored the Lady Raiders 33-21 in the second half, putting up 19 points in the 3rd stanza.

Leading the way for Bellefontaine were Lexi Robinson, Quinlan Zedeker, and Tiffany Boop who scored 10 points each. Robinson pulled down 8 rebounds, and Zedeker snagged 4 boards and 5 steals.

Alexza Clifton chipped in with 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. Parker Penhorwood also had 6 points with 3 steals.

For Benjamin Logan, Cheyanne Peterson led the way with 15 points, Elliott Bailey added 8 points, and Kyndal Cronkleton scored 5 points.

The Lady Chieftain varsity team is riding a 4-game winning streak, sitting at 4-1 on the season.

Benjamin Logan falls to 2-3 on the year.

In the JV game, the Lady Raiders beat Bellefontaine 26-12.

Mya Burrey, Addison Kuhn, and Adilynne Gregg scored 5 points each for Benjamin Logan, while Aubrey Harris added 4 points.

The Lady Raiders will host Northwestern Saturday. The JV game starts at 12 p.m., with the varsity to follow.

Bellefontaine will host a down London team who is sitting at 0-3 on the year. The JV squad will kick things off at noon, with the varsity to follow at 1:30.

The Indian Lake varsity team made key free throws late in the game to overcome Kenton Ridge 45-42.

The Lady Lakers went scoreless to start the 4th, and the Cougars took a 40-39 lead with 2:39 to play.

Mackenzie Dixon got fouled, scoring the tying bucket. She would go to the line and hit the free throw, giving Indian Lake a 43-42 lead. Allison Kinney would ice the game for the Lady Lakers as she hit two more free throws.

Leading the way for Indian Lake was Dixon with 17 points.

The Lady Lakers improve to 2-2 on the season.

Indian Lake won the JV game 39-24.

Carly Strayer scored 19 points for the Lady Lakers.

Indian Lake will travel to Graham on Saturday. The varsity will tip off at 7:30.

Tecumseh defeated Graham 63-47.

The Lady Arrows are 2-2 on the season and will travel to Jonathan Alder Saturday night.

The Lady Falcons fall to 1-2.

Urbana’s varsity team handled business at home, defeating London by 20, 59-39.

Peyton Mounce and Lyza Forson led the Lady Hillclimbers with 19 points each. Mounce also pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, had 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Forson had 5 boards, 3 assists, and 5 steals.

Alex Dixon had 10 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal for Urbana.

The Lady Hillclimbers improve to 2-2 and will host North Union Saturday. The varsity game will start at 1 p.m.
