Girls basketball teams across the area were busy Wednesday night, with several competitive matchups and standout performances highlighting the schedule.
Bellefontaine 37, Benjamin Logan 33
The Bellefontaine Lady Chieftains picked up a hard-fought home win Wednesday night, defeating visiting Benjamin Logan 37–33 in a crossover CBC matchup.
Bellefontaine came out with high energy, controlling both ends of the floor in the opening quarter and carrying that momentum into the second. The Lady Chieftains took a 21–10 lead into halftime before the game turned into a battle down the stretch. Benjamin Logan rallied in the second half, even taking a brief lead, but Bellefontaine stayed composed, knocking down key free throws late to secure the victory.
Hailee Lamb led the Lady Chieftains with 11 points, going 7-of-10 from the free-throw line. Mia Brown added 10 points and four rebounds. Sophia Jacobs scored six points, Lexey Brown chipped in five points and five rebounds, Grace Brown finished with three points and six rebounds, and Sloan Stolly added two points.

For Benjamin Logan, Kylie Harner led all scorers with 17 points. Adilynne Gregg added six points, while Rylan Norviel and Joplin Schneider each scored five. The Lady Raiders battled foul trouble in the fourth quarter, sending Bellefontaine to the line eight times, where the Chieftains converted seven key free throws to close out the game.
Bellefontaine improves to 2–11 on the season and will return to action Saturday at home against conference opponent Kenton Ridge, a team the Lady Chieftains swept earlier this season. Benjamin Logan falls to 4–6 and will travel to Indian Lake for a Friday night matchup with the Lakers. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., followed by the boys varsity game.
In the junior varsity contest, Bellefontaine outlasted Benjamin Logan 31–26 in overtime. Paxton Stewart led the Lady Chieftains with nine points, while Cameo Greene and Mia Brown each added seven. Adison Postle and Amari Hunsicker provided strong play on both ends of the floor, pulling down key rebounds and scoring timely buckets.
For Benjamin Logan JV, Jozie Taylor scored seven points, Addison Kuhn added six, and Madison Shields finished with four. Despite the loss, the Lady Raiders JV squad moves to 7–3 on the season and will look to bounce back Saturday against Graham.

Indian Lake 40, Kenton Ridge 30
The Indian Lake Lakers controlled the pace Wednesday night on the road, earning a 40–30 crossover victory over Kenton Ridge.
Indian Lake jumped out early and maintained the advantage throughout, outscoring the Cougars in every quarter to secure the win.
Kennedy Schwaderer led the Lakers with 13 points, while Courtney Altstaetter added 11.
Additional scoring contributions came from Carly Strayer, Rya Pequignot, Alivia Kinney, and Brylee Buyer.
The Lakers will look to carry that momentum into Friday night’s CBC matchup against Benjamin Logan.
West Liberty-Salem 34, Greeneview 30
West Liberty-Salem continued its strong season with a 34–30 win over Greeneview, improving to 10–1 on the year.
Ava Astorino led the Tigers with 10 points, while Arianna Weaver added 9.
Ava Poppe chipped in 6, with additional scoring from Lucy Cole (4), Addie Wallen (3), and Ellery Wygal (2).
Greeneview drops to 2–8 overall and 2–6 in conference play.
Madison Plains 51, Mechanicsburg 35
Madison Plains pulled away over four quarters to defeat Mechanicsburg 51–35.
For Mechanicsburg, Taylor Heizer led the Indians with 11 points.
Madison Plains was powered by a big night from Anna Stroup, who finished with 27 points, while S. Mason added 10.
JV: Mechanicsburg picked up a 41–34 win behind Sophia Love’s 11 points.
Southeastern 73, Triad 26
Triad suffered a road loss at Southeastern, falling 73–26.
Jazz Ford led the Cardinals with 13 points and 6 rebounds, while Gracie Martin recorded 4 points and 3 rebounds. Addi Matthews added 4 points.
Triad now stands at 0–9 overall and 0–12 in OHC play.
West Liberty-Salem 8th Grade Rolls Past Catholic Central
The West Liberty-Salem eighth-grade girls improved to 6–2 with a dominant 49–4 victory over Catholic Central.
Bella Johnson led the scoring with 12 points, followed by Elin Leichty (7) and Rylie Falloon (7).
Additional scoring came from Avery Randall (6), Lilly Yeater (4), Avery Brown (4), Emily Leas (4), Hayden Watkins (2), and Lilly Collins (2).
West Liberty-Salem returns to action Thursday night at Madison Plains, with the seventh-grade game tipping off at 5:30 p.m.
