Lady Chiefs take 2nd in Sweet Sixteen Shootout; WL-S compete in Warrior Bowling Tournament

Area bowling teams were in action over the weekend.

The Bellefontaine varsity girls’ team took 2nd at the Sweet Sixteen Shootout in Centerville.

The format was two regular games, then teams were seeded and bowled the best 3 out of 5 baker games.

For the Lady Chiefs, their two regular games were 734 and 769 to finish third.

Bellefontaine would defeat Carroll in the first round of baker games.

The Lady Chiefs rolled 139, 188, 157, 155, and 143 to Carroll’s 183, 212, 140, 122, and 131.

Bellefontaine then moved on to Fairborn.

After firing games of 155, 190, and 178, the Chiefs were tied and had to bowl a 9th and 10th frame roll-off against Fairborn and came out on top.

Bellefontaine then competed against Middletown and won.

The Chiefs moved on to bowl against Butler and fall in the final round to take second.

Kayla Watkins led Bellefontaine with a 386 series (156, 230) and took first on the all-tournament team.

The Lady Chieftain JV team bowled well and ended up 11th out of 16 teams.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity boys and girls teams competed at the Warrior Bowling Tournament in Columbus Saturday.

The Lady Tigers finished in 11th and were led by Elli Ullery with a 182, Andrea Stokes fired a 125, Lilly Gearheart had a 121, Alyssa Mueller rolled a 113, Sadie Paul tallied a 101, and Alexis Lowe recorded a 64.

For the Tiger varsity boys, they took 7th.

West Liberty-Salem was led by Caleb Baumgardner with a 185, Kaden Francis rolled a 174, Luke Thomas fired a 164, Eli Ullery was right behind with a 163, and Devon Jones had a 161.

The Tiger JV Boys finished 3rd.

Josiah Tidwell led WL-S with a 159 and took 3rd individually, Owen King fired a 147, Evan Borgerding tallied a 139, Elijah Shafer had a 134, and Alex Boyer rolled an 89.
