The Bellefontaine Lady Chieftains hit the road Tuesday night to face off against the Indian Lake Lady Lakers.

A back-and-forth battle commenced all night long, saw the Chiefs outlast the Lakers in four sets: 25-22, 28-30, 26-24, 25-22.

The see-sawing action started early in set one, with each team trading blows before the Chieftains took control late and pulled away with the set one victory.

Set two saw Bellefontaine maintain control early, but the Lady Lakers were not wavering as they kept it close, until they finally broke through in the middle of the set, taking a 16-15 lead.

Then a push and pull of leads swayed to both sides of the net.

Extra points were needed in what turned into a marathon 30-28 set, but the perseverance of the Lakers paid off, evening the match at a set apiece.

Set three was another tight one, also needing extra points.

Similar to the second frame, the rhythmic exchange of leads was well showcased.

However, unlike set two, set three went the way of the Chiefs after trailing late in some big moments.

Set four was another thriller. Back-and-forth the two sides went on, but much like set one, Bellefonatine took control late and earned match point at 24-19.

Indian Lake was not about to go down without a fight, firing up a rally that closed the gap to 24-22.

That forced Chiefs head coach Tara Phelps to call a timeout, and it worked to perfection.

The next point was won by the Chiefs to seal a thrilling four-set match.

Chiefs senior outside hitter Kelsie Snapp delivered yet another standout performance with a 20-20 double-double: 25 kills and 27 digs, both of which are new season highs.

She also added a solo block and was near-perfect at the service line.

Ava Layman was a force on both ends of the court, contributing 14 kills, 14 digs, and a pair of aces.

Setter Madi Zedeker connected the offense, racking up 44 assists, three aces, and 13 digs.

Libero Jillian Ullom anchored the defense with 27 digs and added two aces of her own.

Presley Vigansky added five kills, two aces, and a solo block, while Kaeleigh Flora came up clutch with a pivotal solo block, 10 digs, and six kills.
