Lady Hoops: Tigers and Lakers Fall; Chiefs and Pirates Defeat Opponents


The West Liberty-Salem Lady Tigers fell to Versailles  Saturday 38-27.

Leading the Tigers:

  • Lilly Weaver- 13 points
  • Ava Astorino- 6 points
  • Bailey Poppe- 4 points
  • Megan Hollar- 2 points
  • Chaley Wade- 2 points

Versailles also defeated the West Liberty-Salem JV team 28-13 in a two-quarter-only game.

Maddie McGill led the Tigers, scoring 6 points.


The Indian Lake Lady Lakers lost to Jackson Center 39 to 33.

Haylee Edwards led Indian Lake with 9 points and Kennedy Schwaderer and Mackenzie Dixon added 7 points a piece.

The JV Lakers also lost 33 to 30.


The Varsity Lady Pirates beat Northeastern 42-27 on Saturday night in non-conference play.

The Pirates had a slight advantage after one with a 7-6 lead.

They extended their lead to four at the half with a 16-12 lead.

Riverside extended their lead a little bit more in the third to 27-16.

Then the Pirates won the fourth quarter to get the victory.

Leading Riverside in scoring was Emma Saylor with 13 points while Aubree Huston chipped in 8.

They finish the regular season 8-14 and 4-10 in the conference.

The Pirates play Mississinawa Valley in the tournament next Saturday at 12:30 pm.


The Lady Chieftains brought home a win Saturday afternoon beating St.Marys 45-37.

The Chieftains never trailed in the game due to some very gritty defense.

Leading the way for the Chieftains was Quinlan Zedeker with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Alexis Robinson added 12 points and ripped down 8 rebounds.

Tiffany Boop chipped in 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

The Lady Chieftains finished their regular season 11-11.

Next up will be their first tournament game this Wednesday, February 14th at 5:30 pm against the Carlisle Indians.

The game will be played at Tecumseh High School.
