The Indian Lake girls’ basketball team kicked off their season with a strong 38-24 victory over Riverside on Saturday. The Varsity Lady Lakers were led by Mackenzie Dixon, who scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Carly Strayer added 8 points, while Kennedy Swaderer contributed 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. Rya Pequignot and Alivia Kinney each added 4 points, and Courtney Altstaetter chipped in with 2 points.
In the JV game, Riverside came out on top with a 25-10 win. Haley Metzger led the Lady Lakers with 6 points, while Terra Beltz and Brylee Buyer added 3 and 1 point, respectively.
For Riverside, the JV team won with Maddie Lemly leading the charge with 11 points, and Kenzie Stotler adding 10 points. The Varsity Lady Pirates were defeated 38-24 by Indian Lake. Aubree Huston was the leading scorer for Riverside with 6 points, while Kenna Johnson and Miah Carman each added 5 points.
The Triad Lady Cardinals also started their season strong with a 48-33 win over Shawnee. Abbey Overfield led the charge for Triad, scoring 16 points, with 4 steals and 4 assists. Mia LeMay added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Gracie Martin chipped in 8 points and 3 assists, and Melissa Graham contributed 6 rebounds. Triad will face Riverside next Tuesday in a Varsity-only contest.
