Area teams were busy on the hardwood Wednesday night with several local programs picking up key wins and strong performances. Indian Lake defended its home court in a cross-conference matchup, West Liberty-Salem stayed hot in league play, and Mechanicsburg rolled to a convincing victory. Meanwhile, Riverside was in action on the boys’ side Tuesday night.
Girls Basketball — Wednesday, January 14
Indian Lake 44, Jonathan Alder 32
The Indian Lake Lakers defended their home court Wednesday night with a 44–32 win over Jonathan Alder in a cross-conference matchup.
The Lakers jumped out to an early first-quarter lead and never looked back, outscoring the Pioneers in every quarter. An aggressive defensive effort fueled Indian Lake’s offense throughout the night.
Rya Pequignot led the Lakers with 14 points and six steals, while Kennedy Schwaderer posted a strong double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Carly Strayer added nine points and 12 rebounds, Courtney Altstaetter grabbed 11 boards, and Bre Wisener finished with four points.
Indian Lake will look to carry the momentum into Saturday’s conference matchup at Graham.
West Liberty-Salem 57, Greenon 32
WL-S rolled past Greenon on Wednesday night behind a balanced scoring effort and strong defensive play.
Ava Astorino led all scorers with 25 points, while Ava Poppe and Addi Wallen each chipped in 10. Arianna Weaver finished with eight points, Isla Leichty and Lucy Cole added two apiece.

Mechanicsburg dominated from start to finish Wednesday night, defeating Catholic Central 50–17.
The Indians controlled all four quarters, building a steady lead behind strong team defense and balanced scoring.

London 60, Benjamin Logan 15
The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders hosted London in a CBC crossover game but fell 60–15 to a strong London squad.
Ben Logan struggled offensively to get started, scoring zero points in the first quarter while London jumped out to a 26–0 lead. London set the pace early with aggressive defense, and the Lady Raiders worked to attack the basket throughout the night. The halftime score stood at 48–8.
Jozie Taylor led Ben Logan with four points, and Kylie Harner added three. The Varsity Lady Raiders are now 6–8 on the season.
London 50, Ben Logan 24 (JV)
The Ben Logan JV team also faced a tough challenge, falling 50–24 to London.
Jozie Taylor paced the Lady Raiders with 12 points, while Addison Kuhn added four. Ben Logan JV moves to 9–4 on the season and will look to bounce back this Saturday against Northwestern.
Both the JV and Varsity teams will host Northwestern on Saturday night, with the JV game tipping off at 6:00 p.m.

Emmanuel Christian 70, Riverside 49
Riverside came up short Tuesday night against Emmanuel Christian, falling 70–49.
Brody Orsborn led the Pirates with 15 points, while Blaine Shoe and Syler Clark each added seven.
