Lady Pirates, Chiefs fall in District finals; Kenton Ridge advances

Fort Recovery 4, Riverside 3

The Riverside Lady Pirates fell to Fort Recovery, 4-3, in the final play of the game in their district final on Friday.

The game was tied at three in the bottom of the eighth when Emma Will singled in the game-winning run for the Indians.

Fort Recovery got on the board in the first inning after Jenna Homan hit a sacrifice fly, scoring a run.

Aubree Huston doubled to left field, which helped Riverside Varsity Pirates tie the game at one in the top of the third.

A solo home run to center field by Riley Dillon gave Riverside the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fifth.

The Indians re-gained the lead in the bottom of the fifth on a 2-run error, giving Fort Recovery a 3-2 lead.

Riley Dillon homered again in the seventh to help Riverside tie the game at three.

Homan earned the win for Fort Recovery after giving up six hits and three runs over eight innings, striking out five and walking two.

Despite her 2-home run night at the plate, Dillon took the loss for Riverside.

The pitcher went seven and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on nine hits, striking out seven and walking one.

Greenville 12, Bellefontaine 0

The Bellefontaine Lady Chieftains made a run of it, but couldn’t keep up with Greenville, falling 12-0 on Friday in the District Finals.

Greenville started early in the first when Kendall Cromwell hit into a fielder’s choice ground out, scoring a run.

Greenville extended its lead with four more runs in the bottom of the third, courtesy of RBI doubles by Cromwell and Kylar Arnett.

Greenville put the nail in the coffin with seven runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Zoey Burns and Leah Force both doubled in a couple of runs, Arnett doubled in a run, and Burns nailed a 2-run shot over the center field fence to add insult to injury.

Joy Fogan stepped into the circle first for the Lady Chieftains.

The southpaw gave up six hits and four runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one.

Ella Oswalt gets the win for Greenville.

The starting pitcher surrendered three hits over five scoreless innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Airiana Young, Ava Dolan, and Fogan each collected a hit for Bellefontaine.

Greenville tallied 14 hits in the game.

Arnett led Greenville, going 5-for-5 from the plate.

Burns had four RBIs, going 2-for-5 on the day.

Cromwell and Lizzie Shaffer each collected multiple hits for Greenville.

Bellefontaine ends their season 8-15 overall.
