Thursday night, the Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders battled Northwestern with a sectional championship on the line, and it took extra time to decide a winner.

After a scoreless first half, Northwestern struck first in the second. The Raiders answered when Daylin Varner netted the equalizer, sending the match into sudden-death overtime. Varner came through again, scoring her second goal of the night to lift Benjamin Logan to victory and the sectional title.

Coach Kyle Trees praised his team’s resilience.

“Our girls were willing to compete as long as it was going to take tonight to advance. We have responded so well with patience all throughout the year after falling behind a score.”

Benjamin Logan will now prepare for the Milton-Union Bulldogs in the District Semifinals.
