Lady Spartans win big; Lady Chiefs advance in CBC MS Tournament – Monday basketball scores

Area basketball teams were in action Monday.

Varsity girls:

Calvary Christian rolled past Sidney Christian 49-18.

Hannah Marlow recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds, Kari Gantz added 10 points and 6 boards, Nora Thornton had 7 points and 6 rebounds, Abigail Reinhard added 5 points, 9 steals, and 6 assists, Madhuri Cook and KayLee Hurley each scored 4 points, Julie Childers chipped in with 2 points and Megan Palmer added a point.

The Lady Spartans are 7-1 overall.

Riverside fell to Bethel 59-20.

Avya Stewart had 11 in the loss.

The Lady Pirates also lost in the JV Game 35-24.

Kaylee Fulkerson pitched in 11 points. Riley Dillon tallied 7 rebounds.

West Liberty-Salem lost to Greenon 49-38.

Ava Astroino paced the Lady Tigers with 10 points, Lilly Weaver tossed in 9, Bailey Poppe added 7, and Megan Hollar and Chaley Wade each scored 6 points.

Middle School:

The Bellefontaine 7th-grade girls defeated Northridge 26-19.

Sloan Stolly and Ava Oppy each had 12 points in the win.

Amari Hunsicker, Joy Fogan, and Vanessa Friedrich combined for 10 rebounds in the contest.

Aaralynn Chapman, Hailey Augustus, and Ximena Marquez-Diaz gave strong minutes by playing tough defense through crucial moments during the game.

The 7th-grade Lady Chiefs will travel to North Union Thursday with tip-off slated for 5:30 in the semi-finals.

The Bellefontaine 8th-grade girls edged past Jonathan Alder 27-25.

Emma Whitaker tossed in 13 in the win. Sophia Jacobs added 6, Grace Brown pitched in 5 points and 9 rebounds, Presley Vigansky had 2 points, 6 boards, and 4 blocks, and Hailee Lamb scored 1 point.

Hannah Wilson, Paige Smith, and Alivia Wage added good defensive minutes.

The Chiefs will host Shawnee this Thursday in the semi-finals of the CBC tournament. The tip-off is scheduled for 5:30.

Indian Lake’s 7th-grade girls fell in the second round of the CBC tournament to London 29-14.

Rya Pequignot and Ava Phillips each had 4 points in the effort. Alivia Kinney, Lillian Strauser, and Madison Davis all had 2 points apiece.

The Lady Lakers finished the season 9-8.

Riverside’s 7th-grade girls handled Milton-Union 22-5.

Kenzie Stotler led with 12 points, Chloe Purtee had 6, Molly Carman pitched in 2 points, and Addison Shoe and Valerie Knight each had 1 point.

The 7th-grade Lady Pirates are now 11-5 (10-4 conference).

In the 8th-grade game, Riverside lost 22-18.

Emilee Robinson recorded 8 points, Kenna Johnson chipped in with 7 points, and Keira Manahan had 3 points.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th-grade boys ran past Mechanicsburg 51-17.

Beckett Sullivan scored 9 in the win.

Liam Barger, Zade Beileski, Brayan Gullett, and Owen Hardwick all had 6 points each, Zeke Longshore, Asher Cole, Austin Markin, and Reagan McCullough each scored 4 points, and David Roberts chipped in with 2.

The 7th-grade Tigers are 14-0.
