The Lady Tigers of West Liberty-Salem welcomed the Anna Rockets into the Jungle Monday night but took the loss 36-30.

Anna took control early in the game and held a commanding 11-4 lead after the first quarter.

West Liberty responded well, holding Anna to just 3 points in the second quarter. Heading into the break, it was 14-all.

In the third, the Lady Tigers continued to pressure the Rockets with an unconventional zone defense and made an 8-0 run to start the second half.

Anna adjusted, and made some tough shots and even harder rebounds, taking a 26-24 lead into the fourth quarter.

It was all Anna after that.

Tigers head coach Dennis McIntosh had good things to say about his ladies even after a tough loss.

West Liberty now has the rest of the week to recover and prepare for the “second season” as they travel to Covington High School to face Fairlawn on Saturday.

The tip-off is at 3:30 PM.
