Laker track teams compete at Heidelberg Indoor Meet

Indian Lake’s indoor track and field teams competed Saturday at Heidelberg University in a large invitational featuring 81 schools from across the region. The Lakers delivered a strong overall showing, highlighted by a first-place finish, several top-10 performances, and numerous personal records as they continued to gain valuable experience during the indoor season.

Aidan Stinebaugh led the way for Indian Lake with an outstanding day in the field events. Stinebaugh captured first place in the triple jump with a leap of 40 feet, 3.25 inches, setting a personal record. He also recorded a personal-best jump of 17 feet, 10.25 inches in the long jump, finishing 10th overall in the event.

Hayes Henry turned in multiple solid performances, placing fourth in the high jump after clearing 5 feet, 6 inches. Henry also posted a personal record of 10.19 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 16th in a deep field.

Silas Holbrook added another strong day for the Lakers, placing sixth in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 34 feet, 7 inches. He also finished 12th in the long jump at 17 feet, 7.25 inches and ran a personal-record 7.47 seconds in the 60-meter dash.

Indian Lake’s 4×200-meter relay team of Holbrook, Cason Lacher, Cole McClelland, and Stinebaugh placed seventh overall, crossing the line in 1:43.

On the girls side, Haley Metzger placed ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 21 feet, 9 inches and also competed in the long jump, finishing 21st. Laura Metzger ran well in the distance events, clocking 6:09 to place 19th in the 1600-meter run and recording a personal-best 2:51 to finish 12th in the 800-meter run.

Piper Warnecke posted multiple strong efforts, highlighted by a personal-record long jump of 13 feet, 5 inches, good for 15th place. Warnecke also ran 9.02 seconds in the 60-meter dash and a personal-record 30.80 in the 200-meter dash.

Nathan White had a busy day, running a personal-record 5:37 in the 1600-meter run to place 23rd. He also competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 31.45, and recorded a long jump of 12 feet, 4.5 inches.

Several other Lakers posted personal bests in sprint events. Cole McClelland ran a personal-record 7.82 in the 60-meter dash, while Cason Lacher recorded a personal-best 7.96 in the same event and ran 1:00 in the 400-meter dash. Jordan Vance competed in three events, running 1:06 in the 400-meter dash, 27.48 in the 200-meter dash, and jumping 15 feet, 1.25 inches in the long jump.

Logan Daniels competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 29.31, and also ran in the 60-meter dash. Evan Wu posted a personal-record throw of 24 feet, 8 inches in the shot put.

In distance events, Kayleigh Taylor ran 6:49 in the 1600-meter run and 3:19 in the 800-meter run. Olivia Albert also competed for the Lakers in the long jump.

Indian Lake will be back in action on February 15 when the Lakers travel to Tiffin for their next indoor meet.
