Several local soccer teams are making headlines as they progress in tournament play.

Tuesday, Indian Lake achieved a solid victory over Valley View, winning 2-0 in the first round.

Carson Clary opened the scoring with an assist from Chase Schaub, who later netted the second goal with help from Cameron Freyhof.

Goalkeeper Colten Corcoran celebrated his ninth shutout of the season, supported by a strong defensive line including Cameron Freyhof, Jacob Freyhof, Stevie Spofford, and Cason Lacher.

In another exciting matchup, the Ben Logan boys soccer team triumphed over Greenon with a score of 4-3.

After leading 3-0 at halftime—thanks to an early goal from Ethan Miller and two penalty kicks from Aidan Todd—Greenon made a strong comeback.

They scored an own goal against the Raiders early in the second half and tied the game with a penalty kick with just ten minutes remaining.

However, Aidan Todd secured the win with a decisive goal eight minutes before the end, dribbling around the Knight goalie.

The Raiders now stand at 8-5-5 and will face Indian Lake again on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Coach Hughes expressed pride in his team’s resilience, saying, “I’m proud of our guys for finding a way to win and we look forward to what is sure to be a great game at Indian Lake.”

Meanwhile, the West Liberty-Salem boys’ varsity soccer team faced a heartbreaking end to their season with a 4-3 overtime loss to Northwestern.

After leading at halftime, the Tigers couldn’t hold off Northwestern, who tied the game and scored in the first overtime period.

Isaiah Reminder contributed with one goal and one assist, while Isaiah Reames and Wyatt Longaberger each added a goal. Goalkeeper Tucker Searles recorded seven saves.

The Tigers wrapped up their season with an impressive 11-3-3 record and will graduate eight seniors who have made significant contributions to the program over the years.
