Lakers, Raiders earn sweeps to open conference play; Tuesday volleyball results

Several area volleyball teams were on the court Tuesday night, with Indian Lake and Benjamin Logan earning straight-set victories while Bellefontaine and Riverside came up short.

Varsity – Indian Lake 3, Graham 0

The Indian Lake Lady Lakers opened CBC Mad River Division play with a straight-set sweep of Graham, winning 25-9, 25-18 and 25-7.

The Lakers took advantage of Graham errors throughout the match. The second set was tied at 14 before Indian Lake closed with a strong run to take control.

Cami Bailey led the Lakers with 10 kills, two blocks, eight digs and three aces. Courtney Altstaetter added seven kills and five blocks, while Madison Davis had seven kills, a block and two aces while going 11-for-11 serving.

Mackenzie Miller added five kills and 10 digs while going 24-for-24 serving with an ace. Addyson Roby directed the offense with 30 assists and added two kills, a block, two aces and four digs.

For Graham, Malynn Bacher and Asyia Davis each had four kills, while Ava Tudor recorded three aces.

The victory was Indian Lake’s fifth straight sweep over Graham. The Lakers will travel to Shawnee Thursday.

JV – Indian Lake 2, Graham 0

The Indian Lake JV team also swept Graham, winning 25-12 and 25-8.

Claire Tidwell led the Lakers with eight kills and six digs, while Piper Robinson added five kills. Lux Kipker recorded 14 assists and 10 digs.

Audra Harford had three kills and three aces, while Haileigh Penix added three kills and a block. Taylor Duff contributed three kills, and Ayla Brentlinger had six digs.

Varsity – Benjamin Logan 3, Shawnee 0

The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders opened CBC Mad River Division play Tuesday night with a straight-set victory over Shawnee, winning 25-9, 25-15, 25-19.

Summer Cline led Benjamin Logan with 13 kills and three aces. Georgia Daniels added six kills and three aces, while Abby Vance contributed five kills and three aces.

Autumn Cline directed the offense with 24 assists and added four aces.

Storm LeVan finished with two kills, Nevaeh Fogle had one kill, and Adabella Guider added one kill and a block.

Brielle Kline led the Raiders in passing with a 2.72 rating, followed by Lydia Johnson with a 2.14 rating.

The victory gives Benjamin Logan a strong start to CBC Mad River Division play.

Varsity – London 3, Bellefontaine 0

The Bellefontaine Lady Chieftains battled London Tuesday but fell in straight sets, 25-18, 25-11 and 29-27.

Ava Layman led Bellefontaine with 10 kills, six digs and an assist. Presley Vigansky recorded 17 assists and two aces, while Jillian Ullom finished with 19 digs and an ace.

Arianna Rangel added six kills, while Alayna Boyd had five digs, three assists and two aces. Lexey Brown contributed two blocks and two digs.

Bellefontaine falls to 3-4 on the season and will host Urbana Thursday, with the JV match beginning at 5:30 p.m.

JV – London 2, Bellefontaine 0

The Bellefontaine JV Chieftains fell to London 25-7 and 25-18.

Ellie Bosiljevac led the Chieftains with four kills and four digs. Rosie Lightle had seven assists, seven digs and a kill, while Gianna Davis added five digs and a kill.

Brookelyn Oaks recorded seven digs, while Alexis Hogan had six digs and an assist.

The JV Chieftains fall to 2-5 and will also host Urbana Thursday.

Eighth Grade – Bellefontaine 2, Springfield 0

The Bellefontaine eighth-grade girls also picked up a victory, defeating Springfield 25-16 and 25-21.

Skylar Phan led the Chieftains with 13 digs, while Braelynn Neer recorded three kills, two blocks and two aces. Arianna Rumer added three kills, five digs, a block and two assists.

Charley Frazier contributed five aces, while Evie Schmidt had a kill and two assists.

The Chieftains will face Urbana Wednesday.

Varsity – Covington 3, Riverside 1

Riverside dropped a four-set match to Covington Tuesday night, falling 21-25, 25-19, 25-15 and 29-27.

Molly Carman led Riverside with seven kills and four aces. Valerie Knight and Eva Dodds each added five kills, while Kara Klingler recorded 19 assists and 15 digs.

Emilee Robinson finished with 26 digs, Chloe Purtee had 25 digs and Kenzie Stotler added 17 digs. Makayla Hurley and Knight each contributed two blocks.

JV – Riverside 2, Covington 0

The Riverside JV team earned a two-set victory, winning 25-13 and 25-12.

Ellie Zwiebel recorded 10 assists, while Madison Schindewolf had three kills. Kenzie Stotler added three aces and two kills.
