The Indian Lake softball team needed a 7th inning rally to beat New Richmond Saturday afternoon in the District Final at Miamisburg.
The Lakers jumped in front 4-0 until the fifth inning when New Richmond plated three runs.
In the bottom of the sixth, New Richmond tied the game and then went ahead after an error by Indian Lake allowed another run to score.
The Lakers went to the top of the 7th down 5-4.
Thanks to a couple of hits and an intentional walk, they loaded the bases with 1 out.
That set the stage for Porscha Davis. The senior ripped a bases-clearing double putting Indian Lake on top 7-5. Another double later by Kayleigh Zedlitz scored Davis increasing their lead to 8-5.
The Lakers defense did their job in the bottom of the seventh to hold off New Richmond and take the District Final for the second consecutive season 8-5.
Indian Lake (24-2) will now face state-ranked Granville in the Regional Semifinal Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 from Wright State University. Granville beat Licking Valley 4-2 in the District Final Saturday afternoon.
In the final Ohio High School Softball State Coaches Poll, Granville was ranked #2 and Indian Lake was #9.
98.3 WPKO will broadcast the game Wednesday afternoon.
