The Indian Lake Lakers snatched the lead late in the game in a 3-2 victory over Valley View Wednesday at home.
Indian Lake trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Gavin Lones homered on a 0-1 count, scoring 2 runs.
Indian Lake pitchers struck out nine, while Valley View sat down six.
Lones toes the rubber for the Lake, surrendering two runs and 3 hits over six and two-thirds innings striking out 8.
Indian Lake launched one home run on the day. Lones went for the long ball in the sixth inning.
Chase Baldwin went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lakers.
Riverside traveled to Newton Wednesday night to tangle with the state-ranked Newton Indians and fell 5-0.
Riverside left 6 runners on base for the night while committing 3 errors on defense allowing Newton to push across 5 unearned runs.
Warren Shockey took the loss for the Pirates as he went 6 innings allowing only 3 hits while striking out 6.
Landon Purtee collected 2 hits at the plate to lead the Pirates offense.
Riverside drops to 10-14 on the season.
The Pirates continue league play Friday at home against Miami East.
