Graham wins 25th straight State Wrestling Title; local athletes step on the podium

Championship Sunday at the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament at the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus ended with history once again belonging to the Graham Falcons.

Graham captured its 25th consecutive team state championship, marking a quarter century of dominance and the program’s 27th overall state title. With Vermont powerhouse Mount Anthony Patriots seeing its streak of 36 straight championships snapped earlier this year, the Falcons now own the longest active state title streak in high school wrestling in the country and are tied for the second-longest championship run in the sport’s history.

Falcon head coach Jason Knott and his wrestlers talk about what it takes to make history and keep the streak going next year.

A total of 14 area wrestlers are featured in the results that follow, representing strong performances across Division II, Division III, and the girls state tournament. Among them were three individual state champions — all from Graham — along with four runner-up finishes, one third-place finish, three fourth-place results, one seventh-place finish, and two eighth-place finishes as local wrestlers wrapped up another memorable weekend on the state’s biggest stage.
