Several area girls’ soccer teams saw their postseason journeys come to an end Monday night, as district tournament play continued across the region. Despite the tough results, each squad closed out strong seasons filled with milestones and memorable moments.
The Urbana girls soccer team battled to the very end in tournament action Monday night at Miami East.
After 80 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods, the match remained scoreless at 0–0. The contest was ultimately decided in penalty kicks, where Miami East edged Urbana 3–1.
Despite the tough finish, the Hillclimbers capped off a stellar season, winning their conference title and finishing with a 13-2-2 overall record.
Over in another district semifinal, the Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders saw their record-setting season come to an end Monday night with a 3–2 loss to Milton-Union.
Following the match, Coach Trees took time to recognize his six seniors: Ella Chamberlain, Rylan Norviel, Lily Studebaker, Rissa Bates, Madisyn Trees, and Siina Grondal, for their leadership and impact on the program.
“These girls have helped set a new standard for our program — the way we work on and off the field, and the way we conduct ourselves in our school and community,” Trees said. “This magical season was a direct reflection of our senior leadership.”

In the other district semifinal, top-seeded Alter put together a dominant showing, defeating Graham 8–0 to advance to the district finals.
