As the 2025 OHSAA volleyball regular season enters its final week and the postseason gets closer, several teams from Logan and Champaign Counties are set to compete across a range of divisions and regions.
Most teams will start their playoff runs in the second round, beginning on Wednesday, October 15. The winners of the matchups listed below, unless noted otherwise, will move on to the District Semifinals.
Here’s a breakdown of the local matchups and key games to watch as area teams aim for district titles and beyond:
Division III – Region 12
Southwest 2
2nd Round: No. 4 Bellefontaine vs No. 13 Ponitz
Wed. Oct. 15 – 7:00 PM @ Xenia HS
As a No. 4 seed, Bellefontaine enters the tournament with high expectations and the potential to make a deep run. These two teams will also face off in the last matchup of the regular season on Saturday, October 11, serving as a playoff preview.
The winner will face the winner between No. 2 Butler and No. 15 West Carrollton.
Division IV – Region 16
Southwest 1
2nd Round: No. 3 Indian Lake vs Winner of No. 11 Archbishop Alter / No. 13 Thurgood Marshall
Sat. Oct. 18 – 10:00 AM @ Xenia HS
Indian Lake earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of Alter and Thurgood Marshall. The Lakers, ranked No. 3, will look to start their postseason strong on that Saturday morning.
2nd Round: No. 8 Urbana vs No. 6 Oakwood
Sat. Oct. 18 – 11:30 AM @ Xenia HS
In one of the more intriguing matchups, Urbana draws No. 6 Oakwood in a battle of closely ranked teams. The Hillclimbers will need a sharp performance to advance.
The winners of these two matchups will play each other in the District Semi-Finals
Southwest 4
2nd Round: No. 17 Graham vs No. 12 Carlisle
Sat. Oct. 18 – 2:30 PM @ Brookville HS
The Falcons hit the road to face Carlisle in a 17-vs-12 matchup. Graham will aim for a first-round upset to build tournament momentum.
The winner will play the victor of No. 2 Brookville vs No. 16 Meadowdale.
Southwest 2
2nd Round: No. 10 Benjamin Logan vs No. 5 Eaton
Sat. Oct. 18 – 2:30 PM @ Xenia HS
The Raiders head into postseason play with a tough first-round draw against a solid Eaton team. Ben Logan, seeded 10th, will look to play spoiler and keep their tournament hopes alive.
The winner takes on the winner of No. 4 Bethel vs No. 7 Waynesville / No. 14 Dunbar.
Division V – Region 20
Southwest 3
2nd Round: No. 5 West Liberty-Salem vs No. 7 Valley View
Thu. Oct. 16 – 6:30 PM @ Trotwood-Madison HS
West Liberty-Salem enters as a No. 5 seed and faces off against No. 7 Valley View in a pivotal early-round clash. A win would position the Tigers well for a deep postseason run.
The winner will face off against the winner of No. 3 Anna vs No. 10 Milton-Union.
Division VI – Region 23
Central
2nd Round: No. 6 Mechanicsburg vs Winner of No. 4 West Jefferson / No. 11 Cardington-Lincoln
Sat. Oct. 18 – 2:00 PM @ TBD
Mechanicsburg gets the winner of West Jefferson and Cardington-Lincoln. A possible matchup with a conference foe looms, and the energy is sure to be high for the Indians.
The winner will get to play the winner of No. 1 Newark Catholic vs No. 8 Patriot Prep / No. 12 Harvest Prep.
Division VI – Region 24
Southwest 3
2nd Round: No. 15 Riverside vs No. 2 Fort Recovery
Wed. Oct. 15 – 5:00 PM @ Newton HS
The Pirates will have their hands full against perennial powerhouse Fort Recovery. Riverside will need a strong effort to upset the No. 2 seed and extend their season.
The winner will face the survivor of No. 12 Franklin Monroe vs No. 11 Northeastern.
District Semifinals: No. 3 Triad vs Winner of No. 6 Houston / No. 13 Tri-County North
Tue. Oct. 21 – 7:30 PM @ Newton HS
Triad secured a bye straight into the district semi-finals, the only local team to do so. After a much-improved season, they are looking to strengthen that with a nice postseason run.
Division VII – Region 28
Southwest 1
2nd Round: No. 16 Calvary Christian vs No. 1 Russia
Thu. Oct. 16 – 6:00 PM @ James S. Trent Arena
Calvary Christian faces a tall order as they go up against top-seeded Russia. The Spartans will look to play loose and embrace the underdog role in their postseason opener.
The winner is set to play the winner of No. 11 Yellow Springs vs No. 14 Catholic Central.
