The Indian Lake Lakers and Bellefontaine Chieftains both celebrated impressive wins in high school volleyball action this week.
The Indian Lake varsity team faced off against Springfield Shawnee on Tuesday, dominating the match with scores of 25-11, 25-22, and 25-20. Halle Roby led the Lakers with a stellar performance, recording 5 ace serves, 24 assists, and 11 digs. Cami Bailey also shone with 10 kills, while Kenzie Dixon added another 10 kills and 9 digs. The Lakers improve their record to 14-3 overall and 4-1 in the Central Buckeye Conference (CBC). They will look to continue their success in their next match against North Union on Tuesday.
In the junior varsity matchup, the Lakers triumphed over Shawnee with a close score of 25-16, 19-25, and 25-23. Ady Oldiges was a standout, going 11 for 11 serving, along with 16 digs. Other notable performances included Miley Humble with 3 kills and Bre Wisener with 6 kills and 9 digs. The JV team is also 14-3 this season.
Meanwhile, the Bellefontaine Chieftains traveled to Urbana for a CBC Kenton Trail matchup on Wednesday, where they secured a convincing victory with scores of 25-12, 25-15, and 25-13. Kelsie Snapp was a key contributor, delivering 17 kills and 8 digs, while Madi Zedeker provided 34 assists without missing a serve. The Chieftains now stand at 13-3 overall and 4-2 in the CBC Kenton Trail division.
In junior varsity action, the Red Chiefs also emerged victorious, winning 25-13, 25-12, led by Alayna Boyd’s 14 assists and 4 aces. However, the JV Black team faced a tougher match, falling short with scores of 18-25 and 22-25.
The Chieftains are set to host Bethel this Saturday, with the JV Black game starting at 10 AM. Both local teams are looking to build on their recent successes as the season progresses.
