Sunday, Mad River United FC 12U Boys picked up their second win in a row on Sunday with a 5-4 victory over Johnstown FC in their sixth game of the season.
Bentley Harrat had a strong game as goalkeeper, making several tough saves to keep the match close.
Defenders Mattox Wenger, Gauge Iiams, and Carter Haver played well, making interceptions and keeping pressure on the Johnstown offense.
Midfielders Bo White, Maxwell Millis, and George Haver made smart passes to the forwards and helped stop all four of Johnstown’s corner kicks.
Up front, Aden Hammer and Owen Bayliss showed great footwork and speed, chasing down long passes and keeping the ball away from defenders.
Tommy Brannon scored first for Mad River in the 16th minute.
Johnstown tied it up in the 18th, but Luman Lambert made it 2-1 with a goal in the 22nd minute.
Brannon scored again just 90 seconds into the second half to give Mad River a 3-1 lead.
But Johnstown came back strong, scoring three straight goals to take a 4-3 lead by the 54th minute.
Brannon completed his hat trick with a goal in the 56th minute to tie it 4-4.
Then, in the 59th minute, Lambert scored the game-winning goal from a tough angle.
Mad River United held on to win 5-4 in an exciting and close match.
