Mechanicsburg boys’ golf finishes fifth at Division III State Tournament

The Mechanicsburg Indians boys’ golf team capped off a strong performance at the Division III State Tournament at Northstar Golf Club, claiming fifth place overall with a team score of 653.

The Indians’ consistent play across all five golfers helped the Indians secure a top-five finish among some of the best programs in Division III.

  • Connor Eyink (SR): 157 (79, 78) — 15th place

  • William Reiser (SR): 159 (82, 77) — 20th place

  • Anderson Reiser (SR): 167 (81, 86) — 38th place

  • Mason Bandy (JR): 170 (84, 86) — 44th place

  • Ozzy Roach (SR): 174 (84, 90) — 49th place

Winning the team title was the John F. Kennedy Eagles by 23 strokes with a team score of 618. Individually, Kalida sophomore Paul Stechschulte shot a 140 (71, 69) to take home the gold.

Coach Caleb Westfall reflected on Mechanicsburg’s effort:

“Not the result we were looking for, but nevertheless proud of these boys for their grit and focus throughout the entire tournament. (I am) honored to be able to coach such a great group of young men!”

The Indians finished the season with a record of 106-22-2 (16-0 OHC), earning the titles of District Champions, Sectional Champions, OHC Tournament Champions, and OHC Regular Season Champions. Their showing at the state tournament highlights the program’s strength and sets a solid foundation for next year.
