Mechanicsburg continued its strong start to the boys golf season Thursday, winning a tri-match at Woodland Golf Club with a team score of 164, finishing ahead of West Liberty-Salem (194) and Triad (203). The nine-hole matchup between Mechanicsburg and West Liberty-Salem also counted as an Ohio Heritage Conference contest.
Mechanicsburg was paced by a pair of 40s from seniors Mason Bandy and junior Ryder Buxton, who shared medalist honors with Triad’s Cohen Millice. Senior Maxwell Popovich added a 41, while sophomore Elliott Moore rounded out the scoring with a 43. Junior MJ Blose shot 44, and sophomore Owen Lawhorn finished with a 51.
West Liberty-Salem was led by Brayden Thompson, who posted a team-best 45. Calen Fairchild and Logan Behlmer each carded 49s, while Braxton Catron added a 51. Owen Thornburg finished with a 55, and Eli Jackson shot 58.
Triad was led by Cohen Millice, who matched the day’s low round with a 40. Carson Jackson recorded a personal-best 46, while Colton Mullin shot 57 and Hayden Sheppeard added a personal-best 58.
Junior Varsity
Mechanicsburg JV also earned top honors with a team score of 184. The Indians were led by Drew Lawhorn (44), followed by Liam O’Laughlin (46), Bodee Delong (46), Hank Huffman (47), Caden Canfield (48), Jaxson Taylor (53), Chase Trainer (54), Daxton Hodgkin (62), and Gregory Pifher (71).
West Liberty-Salem JV finished with a team score of 235. The Tigers were led by Carter Henderson (55), followed by Cale Wygal (56) and Jackson Reinhardt and Gabe Myers, who each shot 58.
Mechanicsburg remains unbeaten to open the season, while West Liberty-Salem and Triad will look to bounce back when they return to the course next week.
