Middle School Basketball Round Up: Raiders, Tigers & Chiefs

The 7th grade Lady Raiders lost to Bellefontaine Thursday 27 -17.

Raiders struggled on offense in 2nd half and couldn’t keep up with the Chieftains.

Leading the Raiders was Brielle Kline netting points and Paisle Rodenberger added 5.

They play Indian Lake at 10 am on Saturday in the first round of the CBC tournament.

The 8th grade Lady Raiders pulled out a huge win for their first road victory of the season.

Down 4 in the last 1:30 the Raiders made just enough plays including Maddie Shields 3 pointer from the corner with under 15 seconds to garner the win 29-26.

Other Raiders scoring:

  • Hailey Smith- 11 points
  • Maddie Shields- 7 points
  • Daylin Varner- 6 points

They Play at Northwestern on Monday night in CBC tournament action.

 

The Benjamin Logan 7th grade boys basketball team defeated Bellefontaine 40-32.

The Raiders offense was led by several players on the night:

  • Carrick Spriggs- 11 points
  • Micah Gregg- 11 points
  • Colten Little- 8 points
  • Karson McCoy- 4 points
  • Gabe Predmore- 4 points
  • Brock Bates- 2 points

The win moves the Raiders to 10-5 on the season.

The 8th grade Benjamin Logan boys basketball also defeated Bellefontaine 35-33.

The game was tied in the final seconds when Maddox Vermillion scored to push the Raiders to victory.

Vermillion led the team with 28 points.

Wyatt Predmore added 3, Owen Stratton 2, Carter Fay and Adam Tinsman had 1 apiece.

 

West Liberty-Salem lost to Northeastern 22-23 in the second round of the OHC 7th grade tournament.

Leading the Tigers:

  • Emily King- 6 points
  • Ashlyn Yeater- 2 points
  • Ella Jacobs- 4 points
  • Karlee Lucas- 8 points

 

The 7th grade Lady Chiefs used a second-half rally to come from behind in beating Ben Logan 27-17 Thursday night.

The Chiefs fell behind 9-1 in the opening quarter but used a strong defensive effort to rally in the second half by outscoring Ben Logan 20-6.

Leading the way with 13 points was Mia Brown.

Lexey Brown added 4 points while Rylee Crabtree and Paxton Stewart each chipped in 3 points.

Cameo Greene and Harmoni Johnson rounded out the scoring for the Lady Chiefs.

 

The 8th-grade Lady Chiefs fought till the end but came up short in the final seconds.

Leading the Chiefs was Sloan Stolly with 10 and 5 assists.

Tabby Thomas added 6 points and 6 rebounds.

Joy Fogan added 6 points and 7 rebounds.

Ava Oppy added 2 and 3 assists and Hailey Agustus added 2 points.

Vanessa Friedrich and Lyla Conner added good minutes off the bench.

Both 7th and 8th-grade teams will host the first round of the CBC tourney this Saturday with a start time of 10 am.
