Middle school basketball teams face mixed results

Thursday, in middle school boys’ basketball action, Bellefontaine’s 7th grade team cruised to a 38-15 victory over Ben Logan.

The 8th grade team also picked up a win, defeating Ben Logan 38-29 with Tyrin Johnson leading the way with 23 points and Zavion Perez adding 10.

Riverside’s 8th grade boys lost a close game to Miami East, 31-24, while the 7th grade team suffered a tough defeat, losing 71-15.

Indian Lake‘s 7th grade girls team fell to Ben Logan 31-18.

Abby Bihn led the Lakers with 7 points, followed by Addison Headings with 5 points.

The 8th grade Lady Lakers also lost to Ben Logan, 47-27.

Kyler Carruthers led with 9 points, and Makayle Clary added 8.

The Lakers will compete in the CBC tournament on Saturday at Urbana, with the 7th grade tipping off at 10 a.m. and the 8th grade following at 11:15 a.m.

In other action, West Liberty-Salem’s 8th grade team lost to Fairbanks 55-34.

Grant Krabill led the Tigers with 11 points.

WL-S will face the winner of West Jefferson and Northeastern on Wednesday, February 5th, in tournament play.

The 7th-grade Raiders played hard but were defeated by Bellefontaine, with a final score of 38-15.

Nevada Coleman led the team with 5 points, while Preston Mikes added 3 points.

Other contributors included Carter Nangle (2 points), Zayden Wilson (2 points), Anson Nichols (1 point), Luke Long (1 point), and Bayker Roberts (1 point).

In the 8th grade matchup, the Raiders battled Bellefontaine in a closely contested game, ultimately falling 38-29.

Carrick Spriggs was the top performer, scoring 13 points.

Gabe Predmore contributed 6 points, and Micah Gregg added 5 points.

Brantley Karn and Colten Little both scored 2 points, while Ashe Moorehouse chipped in with 1 point.

The Raiders now move to 10-5 on the season, with their next game scheduled for Tuesday at home against Indian Lake at 5:30 p.m.
