Middle School Basketball Teams Play Hard Monday Night

The Indian Lake 7th grade boys’ basketball team beat Benjamin Logan 37-16. The Lakers were strong on defense, holding the Raiders to just 5 points in the second half, including a shutout in the 4th quarter. Isaac Roberts, Kaiden Lacher, and Kendrick Harris helped lead the defense. Miller Hall scored 13 points to lead the team. Mason Berg had 8 points, Colt Volbrecht added 7, Broxtyn Emrick scored 6, and Fletcher Brown hit a three-pointer. The Lakers will play at home again Tuesday against Riverside at 5:30 PM. The Indian Lake 8th grade boys basketball team lost their first game of the season last night to Ben Logan by the final score of 41-36. The team fought back hard in the 2nd half when they were down 12 at one point in the 3rd quarter, by cutting the lead down to a single point late in the game. The team just couldn’t get the timely stop or score in the closing minute to complete the comeback. Rush Hurley shot the ball well from the outside by scoring 24 and making five 3-pointers. Nixon Lillard scored 5 points. Alex Tussing contributed 4 points, and Cohen Brown completed the scoring with 3 points. Kirk Beres, Cole McClelland, and Reid Roberts gave a solid effort on the defensive end of the floor. They next play tonight at home against Riverside.

The Indian Lake 7th grade girls’ basketball team lost to Benjamin Logan 28-16. Addison Headings and Abby Bihn each scored 6 points. Samantha Altstaetter added 3 points, and Caroline Jones had 1 point. The 8th-grade girls also lost 56-24. Claire Tidwell led with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Makayle Clary scored 7 points. Laura Metzger had 3 points and 6 rebounds, and Kyler Carruthers added 3 points.

The 7th-grade Raiders played hard against Indian Lake but lost with a score of 37-16. Luke Long led the team with 10 points. Gavin Vermillion scored 4 points, and Carter Nangle added 2 points. The 8th-grade Raiders won a tough game against Indian Lake, beating them 41-36. The Raiders made some key stops in the 4th quarter to secure the win. Micah Gregg scored 25 points to lead the team. Carrick Spriggs added 7 points, Gabe Predmore scored 5 points, and Karson McCoy had 2 points. Brantley Karn and Colton Little each scored 1 point. With the win, the Raiders are now 3-1. They will play at home against Bellefontaine this Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

The Benjamin Logan 7th-grade girls are still undefeated after a 28-16 win over Indian Lake. Maci Stafford scored 16 points and had 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Michaelee Hoge added 8 points and 4 rebounds. Addy Leonard scored 2 points and had 3 assists and 3 steals. The 8th grade girls won 56-24. Paislee Rodenberger had an amazing game with 25 points, 10 assists, 10 steals, and 3 rebounds. Brielle Kline scored 13 points and had 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Josie Taylor added 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade boys won 48-40 against Springfield Catholic Central. Brandel Sullivan scored 14 points, Grant Krabill had 12 points, and Eli Jones scored 9 points. The team is now 3-0. The WL-S 8th grade girls dominated Springfield Catholic Central, winning 51-8. The girls will play at Greeneview on Thursday, December 19th, with the 7th grade game starting at 5:30 PM.
