Middle School Hoops: Lady Chieftains and Lady Lakers Finish Season


The 7th grade Lady Chiefs lost a hard-fought 2nd round battle to London Monday night, 30-12.

London raced out to an early 8-0 lead to open the game.

The Lady Chiefs would rally with their own 9-0 run using tough defense and timely offense to take a 9-8 lead late into the 2nd quarter.

London would score a late bucket heading into the half, taking a 10-9 lead into halftime.

Unfortunately, the Lady Chiefs struggled for answers on offense and could not slow down the Red Raiders in the 2nd half on defense.

Mia Brown paced the Chiefs with 7 points and 8 rebounds.

Harmoni Johnson, Paxton Stewart, and Cameo Greene combined for 5 points.

Lexey Brown and Harmoni Johnson added tough defense in the paint.

The 7th grade finishes the season with an 11-7 record.


The 8th grade Lady Chiefs concluded their season Monday evening by playing in a very physical contest.

London defeated Bellefontaine 45-16.

Sloan Stolly chipped in 8 points and played solid defense.

Tabby Thomas added 6 points and 8 rebounds.

Vanessa Friedrich added 2 points and Joy Fogan pulled down 7 rebounds.

Hailey Agustus added solid minutes for the team.


The Indian Lake 8th grade girl’s basketball team lost in a hard-fought game 29-27 to Tecumseh in the 2nd round of the CBC tournament.

The Lady Lakers were up 7 points going into the 4th quarter and Tecumseh had a strong 4th quarter to grab a 2-point win.

Leading the Lakers was Alivia Kinney who scored 15 points. Brylee Buyer scored 10 points and had 5 rebounds.

Madison Davis scored 2 points, had 7 rebounds and 3 steals, Bre Wisener grabbed 4 rebounds and Rya Pequignot had 3 assists.

Other members of this year’s team include Heidi Wolf, Ava Phillips, Chloe Borgerding, and Lillian Strauser.

The 8th grade team finished their season with a 12-5 record.
