Middle School Hoops Update: Indian Lake, Benjamin Logan, Riverside, Bellefontaine, West Liberty-Salem


The Indian Lake 8th grade girl’s basketball team defeated Jonathan Alder 37-16.

Leading the Lakers was Rya Pequignot who scored 15 points and had 5 steals.

Alivia Kinney scored 7 points and had 3 steals.

Bre Wisener had 6 points and had 5 steals, Brylee Buyer had 5 points and 4 rebounds and Madison Davis scored 4 points.

The 7th-grade girls basketball team was defeated 45-14 by Jonathan Alder.

Kyler Carruthers scored 10 points and had 3 steals.

Laura Metzger scored 3 points and Audra Harford scored 1 point.

Both teams will play at home on Wednesday vs Northwestern with the 7th grade starting at 5:30.


The Indian Lake 8th-grade boys team fell to Jonathan Alder 49-17.

The Lake was led by Blake Sell who netted 6 points and Jesse Carder added 4.


The 7th grade Lady Raiders lost to Northwestern 31-21.

The 8th Grade Lady Raiders lost to Northwestern 37-25.

The 7th-grade Benjamin Logan boys basketball team defeated Northwestern 32-21.

The Raiders leaders on the night were Carrick Spriggs 11 points and 6 rebounds, Micah Gregg 8 points and 7 rebounds, Colten Little 5 points, Brock Bates 3 points, Gabe Predmore 2 points and 5 rebounds, and Karson McCoy 2 points and 5 rebounds.

The win moves the Raiders to 7-4.

The 8th-grade boys defeated Northwestern 58-34.

Defensively the Raiders held Northwestern to 13 points in the second half.

Offensively, Maddox Vermillion led the offense with 25 points.

Caden Powell added 11 points, Wyatt Predmore 9, Carter Fay 5, Owen Stratton 4, Adam Tinsman, and McKale Watkins added 2 points each.

The Raiders will play at home against Kenton Ridge on Thursday.


The 7th grade Lady Chiefs used a gritty and physical performance Monday night, beating Kenton Ridge 23-16.

The Lady Chiefs were opportunistic by limiting offensive turnovers but creating 12 team steals on defense.

Cameo Greene, Rylee Crabtree, Paxton Stewart, Allie Myers, and Mia Brown turned in strong defensive efforts.

Leading the way offensively was Mia Brown who scored 13 points, Paxton Stewart chipped in 6 points and Lexey Brown added 4 points in the win.

The 7th grade Lady Chiefs improve their record to 9-3 on the year and will travel to Jonathan Alder Thursday night for a 5:30 tip-off.

The 8th grade Lady Chiefs played a solid game this evening and came out victorious over the Cougars.

Leading the scoring was Sloan Stolly with 10, four rebounds, and three steals.

Joy Fogan put in 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.

Ava Oppy added 4 points, 2 assists, and three steals.

Tabby Thomas added two points and hauled down 6 rebounds.

Vanessa Fredrick added two points, 2 steals and 2 rebounds.

Ximena Marquez and Lyla Conner added solid minutes on the court also.

The Chiefs travel to Jonathan Alder this Thursday.


Bellefontaine knocked off Kenton Ridge in 7th-grade boy’s basketball action.

Zavion Perez had 8 points, and Mason Phillips and Isaiah Parks added 7 and 6 respectively.


The 7th-grade Lady Pirates lost to Troy Christian 11-32.

The 8th-grade Lady Pirates defeated Troy Christian 29-12.
