MS volleyball roundup: Lady Chiefs and Riverside face tough road losses

The Bellefontaine Middle School Lady Chiefs volleyball teams traveled to Minster on Thursday, and both squads came up short.

The 8th-grade team fell 25-7, 25-16, with strong performances from Alexis Hogan, who was perfect on serve with two points and added five digs.

Brooklynn Muck went 6-for-6 on serves and recorded a kill, while Gianna Davis served 4-for-5 and added seven digs.

Eva Martinez was perfect on serve receive, Jazmin Nelson had four digs and a kill, Ellie Irick went 3-for-5 on serves with two digs, Ellijana Bosiljavec served 3-for-3, and Brookelyn Oaks contributed three digs.

The 7th-grade Lady Chiefs lost 25-9, 25-17.

Skylar Phan served 6-for-7 with two aces and recorded a dig, Alivia Rogan went 4-for-5 on serves with an ace, Arianna Rumer was perfect on serve with six points and added a dig and a kill, Sirinity Holt contributed two digs, and Braelynn Neer had two digs and an ace.

 

Benjamin Logan Middle School had a mixed night at home against West Liberty.

The 7th-grade team won in two sets, 25-22 and 25-22, finishing with 11 kills, 11 assists, 13 aces, and seven digs.

The 8th-grade team won the first set 25-22 but fell in the next two sets, 25-16 and 25-20, with 21 kills, 13 assists, five aces, and 17 digs for the match.

For the Tigers, the 7th-grade team finished with 9 kills, 15 assists, 6 aces, and 33 digs.

The 8th-grade Tigers compiled 18 kills, 2 blocks, 15 assists, 16 aces, and 45 digs

 

Riverside traveled to Sidney Lehman for a league matchup, and both squads suffered losses.

The 7th-grade team lost 25-9, 25-22.

Bella Shultz led Riverside with eight points and three aces, Bella Beaty added four points with an ace, Bella Monnin contributed three points and an ace, and Avery Wheeler and Gracie Popp each added one point and one ace.

The 8th-grade team lost 25-14, 25-10.

Lillyanne Hanes and Izzy Hudson each had two points and an ace, Gracie Rench added two points, Bella Robinson had one point and an ace, and Lillian Jackson contributed one point.

Riverside returns home for action on Saturday at 10 a.m.
