Riverside 1, Lehman Catholic 0

Riverside and Lehman Catholic put on an old-school pitcher’s duel, and Brody Orsborne stole the show in a 1-0 Pirates win.

Orsborne was dominant from start to finish, racking up 15 strikeouts and allowing just three hits over 95 pitches in a complete game shutout. Lehman’s Ian Stiver matched him nearly pitch-for-pitch, also striking out 15, but Riverside found just enough offense to break through.

The Pirates first threatened in the second when Colton Hurley drew a four-pitch walk and Hayden McCully followed with a single, but Stiver shut the door with a strikeout to end the inning.

Lehman’s best chance came in the third after a hit batter and single put two on with no outs. A sac bunt moved both into scoring position, but Orsborne responded with a strikeout and a flyout to escape the jam.

Riverside finally broke through in the fourth. Syler Clark led off with a double, and after a pair of one-out singles from Tony Robinson and Hurley loaded the bases, McCully delivered a deep sacrifice fly to left that plated the game’s only run.

The Pirates threatened again in the sixth but couldn’t add on, leaving it up to Orsborne—who slammed the door the rest of the way to secure the win.

Riverside improves to 8-1 and will face Fairbanks on Saturday.

Mechanicsburg 10, Greenon 0 (6 innings)

Mechanicsburg kept the unbeaten season rolling in dominant fashion, blanking Greenon 10-0 behind a lights-out performance from Connor Eyink.

Eyink was in full command, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out 12. He struck out the side in both the third and fourth innings and recorded at least one punchout in every frame.

The Indians got on the board early when Eli Wilson reached on an error and later scored on a Hank Huffman double in the first.

They broke things open in the third with a two-out, two-RBI single from Matthew Davis, then added four more in the fourth. Crew Lafary sparked the inning with a two-run double, Wilson added an RBI groundout, and Eyink helped his own cause with an RBI single.

Mechanicsburg put it away in the sixth. Eyink launched a two-run homer to left, and back-to-back doubles from Huffman and Davis pushed the lead to run-rule territory.

Four different Indians had multi-hit games. Eyink’s stardom on the mound paired with a 2-for-3, three-RBI day at the plate, highlighted by his two-run homer, while Davis matched him with three RBIs of his own. Lafary finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored, and Huffman added two hits and an RBI.

Mechanicsburg moves to 5-0 and will take on Trotwood-Madison on Saturday.

Greeneview 16, Triad 0 (5 innings)

Greeneview’s offense came out swinging and never slowed down, handing Triad a 16-0 run-rule loss.

The Rams totaled 11 hits, drew five walks, and capitalized on four Cardinal errors in a game that got out of hand quickly.

Greeneview plated two runs in the first, scoring on a wild pitch and a sac bunt, then added five more in the second—highlighted by an RBI double and a stretch where four runs came home on infield miscues.

The big blow came in the fourth, when the Rams exploded for nine runs. The inning featured eight hits, three walks, and another error as Greeneview blew the game wide open.

Triad had chances early, including loading the bases with two outs in the second, but couldn’t cash in. The Cardinals managed just one baserunner over the final two innings as the run rule took effect.

George Hartman, Duncan Funderburgh, Ty Botkins, and Waylin Holtsberry each recorded a hit for Triad.

Triad falls to 1-6 and will look to get the bats going against Fairbanks on Monday.
