HomeLocal SportsPirates split DH with BradfordPirates split DH with BradfordSun, April 2, 2023 by Chad WilkinsonSHARE NOW Riverside varsity baseball traveled to Bradford Saturday and split a doubleheader with the Railroaders.The Pirates dropped the opener in a run rule 12-2.Sam King pitched 3 innings for Riverside giving up 10 hits and 9 runs while striking out 3.Andrew Knight, Warren Shockey, Kaleb Shindewolf, and Gavin Orsborne all had one hit to lead Riverside.Landon Wills got the start for Bradford ,the righthander went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out ten.The 2nd game was all Riverside as the Pirates won 18-9.Landon Purtee picked up the win going 3 and 2/3rds of an inning giving up 5 hits and 5 earned runs.Riverside totaled 16 hits. Gavin Orsborne, Andrew Knight, Zander Crouch, Gavin Robinson, and Simon Godwin all had multiple hits for Riverside.The Pirates improve their record to 2-3 on the season.
