Pirates win sectional bowling title; area teams move on to districts

The Riverside boys won their first sectional title in school history at Marian Lanes in Huber Heights.

The Pirates came out on fire, shooting team games of 1,105, breaking the school record, 1,072, and 1,089 to take an early lead.

After six baker games, Riverside’s final team score was 4,385.

The Pirates had three bowlers finish in the top ten.

Andrew Knight led the team with a 701 series (267, 221, and 213) and finished 2nd overall, Sam King fired a 696 series (203, 267, 226) for 3rd place, and Zander Crouch had a 677 series (225, 205, 247) for 7th.

Riverside also saw Tyler Knight roll a 693 series (183, 174, 246) and Gage Stevenson recorded a 588 series (227, 205, 157).

The top 12 teams move on to the district tournament: 1. Riverside 4,385, 2. Graham 4,129, 3. Northwestern 4,129, 4. Versailles 3,907, 5. Kenton Ridge 3,902, 6. Urbana 3,869, 7. Benjamin Logan 3,858, 8. Valley View 3,844, 9. Greenon 3,763, 10. Fort Loramie 3,705, 11. Indian Lake 3,690, and 12. Shawnee 3,630.

For Graham, Tristan Maxwell rolled a 680 series to place 6th individually.

Urbana was led by Kohldon Belt fired a 609 series for 19th overall.

Gage Hamm from Benjamin Logan was 16th with a 623 series. Jarrett Buckenroth tallied a 602 series, Caleb Knight recorded a 549 series, Nate Davis bowled a 516 series and Landon Stoodt had a  492 series.

Indian Lake’s Kolby Long finished 14th with a 625 series.

West Liberty-Salem also competed in the sectional tournament.

The Tigers finished 20th out of 25 teams with a team score of 3,013.

Eli Ullery tallied a 594 series (162, 206, 226) for 24th.

The Division II District meet will take place at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Dayton Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m.
