Power at the plate: Area teams shine in midweek softball showdowns

Local high school softball teams lit up the scoreboard on Wednesday, with Indian Lake staying hot at the plate and Bellefontaine putting up a fight against a tough opponent.

Indian Lake 13, Northwestern 3

Indian Lake’s offense exploded in a 13-3 win over Northwestern.

Halle Roby had a huge night, hitting a two-run homer and knocking in four runs total.

The Lakers got rolling early with three runs in the first, four more in the second, and didn’t let up.

Annie Rapp and Bre Wisener also went deep, while Wisener picked up the win in the circle, giving up just one earned run over six innings.

She also went 3-for-3 at the plate. Indian Lake finished with 14 hits and six stolen bases.

They’ll be on the road at Jonathan Alder on Thursday.

Jonathan Alder 7, Bellefontaine 4

Bellefontaine’s bats were working, but it wasn’t enough in a 7-4 loss to Jonathan Alder.

Joy Fogan led the Chieftains at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Kassi Prine started on the mound and added three hits of her own.

Addison Wical and Ava Butler also had multi-hit games.

Bellefontaine was solid on defense with no errors and will travel to Urbana on Monday.
