Benjamin Logan 8th Grade 54, Indian Lake 12
The Benjamin Logan Raiders 8th-grade football team improved to 4-0 Thursday night with a 54-12 win over the Indian Lake Lakers.
The Raiders’ defense came up with three interceptions. Archer Stratton had one interception, while Carter Crumm returned an interception 30 yards and Brayden Ramos took one back 70 yards for a touchdown.
Bryson Greiner led the Raiders with five tackles, while Crumm and Ramos each finished with four tackles.
Crumm also led the offense, rushing for 225 yards and five touchdowns on 14 carries.
Benjamin Logan totaled 98 receiving yards. Jayden Crain had one catch for 13 yards, Stratton added one catch for 20 yards, and Obie Fahle hauled in a 65-yard touchdown pass from Stratton.
The Raiders are now 4-0 and will host Springfield Shawnee on September 24 at 5:30 p.m.
Bellefontaine 8th Grade 42, Urbana 6
The Bellefontaine Middle School 8th-grade Chiefs dominated Urbana Thursday night, earning a 42-6 victory.
Quarterback Braylon Lyburtus had a big night through the air, completing six of seven passes for 168 yards and four touchdowns. Two of those touchdown passes went to Caleb Palmer.
Jax Fleming rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown, while Tovan Benton caught a 31-yard touchdown pass. Benton also returned an interception for a touchdown.
Briar Barber added a 65-yard touchdown run.
The Chiefs’ defense was just as strong. Jon Ruiz recorded two sacks, while Jace Brewer and Barber each added a sack.
Urbana 22, Bellefontaine 20 — 7th Grade
The Bellefontaine 7th-grade Chiefs battled Urbana in a close contest before falling 22-20.
John Harvey made an impact on both sides of the ball, recording two interceptions and catching a 62-yard touchdown pass.
Britton Evans added two rushing touchdowns on runs of 57 and 26 yards.
The Bellefontaine defense continued to battle despite injuries and made several big plays to keep the Chiefs within striking distance. Urbana was able to hold on for the two-point victory.
