Raider girls’ soccer tops Graham; Wednesday night soccer results

The area soccer teams were in action Wednesday night, with Bellefontaine falling to Tecumseh while Benjamin Logan picked up a girls’ victory and battled Graham to a draw in the boys’ match.

Benjamin Logan 2, Graham 0 (girls)

The Benjamin Logan girls varsity soccer team defeated Graham 2-0 Wednesday night, improving to 3-1 in CBC play.

Both of the Raiders’ goals came on long throw-ins from senior Kaylee Hays that found the back of the Graham net.

Freshman Avery Rogers made eight saves in goal to record her second career shutout and help Benjamin Logan secure the victory.

The Raiders will return to action Saturday when they host Allen East at 5:30 p.m.

Benjamin Logan 1, Graham 1 (boys)

The Benjamin Logan boys varsity soccer team played Graham to a 1-1 draw Wednesday night, moving the Raiders’ record to 2-2-3 on the season.

Benjamin Logan took a 1-0 lead against a Graham squad playing with 10 players. Bode Clapsaddle’s long throw-in bounced off the Graham goalkeeper and into the net for the Raiders’ lone goal.

Graham eventually found the equalizer late in the match.

Benjamin Logan nearly reclaimed the lead in the closing seconds, but a Raider shot clanged off the post with just 20 seconds remaining, leaving the match tied at 1-1.

The Raiders will return to action Saturday when they host Spencerville at 3:30 p.m.

Tecumseh 8, Bellefontaine 2 (boys)

The Bellefontaine boys varsity soccer team fell to Tecumseh 8-2 Wednesday night, with the visitors taking a 5-1 lead into halftime.

Grady Graham scored Bellefontaine’s first goal on a penalty kick, while Ethan Turner added the second goal for the Chieftains off an assist from Mason Phillips.

Tecumseh was led offensively by Gonzalez, who scored multiple goals in the victory.

The loss leaves Bellefontaine with an overall CBC record of 1-2-2.

The Chieftains will return to action Wednesday when they face Indian Lake.
