Raiders, Lakers split basketball doubleheader, more Friday scores

It was a big night of Central Buckeye Conference basketball Friday at Indian Lake, as the Lakers and Benjamin Logan squared off in a girls and boys doubleheader that delivered physical play, tight competition, and plenty of excitement.

The evening opened with a hard-fought girls matchup that went down to the final moments, followed by a high-energy boys game where Indian Lake pulled away down the stretch.

Fans packed the gym for a classic CBC showdown that showcased effort, intensity, and conference pride from both programs.

VARSITY GIRLS — Benjamin Logan 40, Indian Lake 37

The Ben Logan Lady Raiders picked up a hard-fought road victory Friday night, edging Indian Lake 40–37 in a tightly contested Central Buckeye Conference matchup as part of a girls and boys basketball doubleheader.

The contest was physical and competitive from start to finish.

Benjamin Logan jumped out to an early 7–4 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Lakers responded with strong play in the second, trimming the deficit to just one point at halftime.

The Lakers turned up the intensity down the stretch and battled to the final buzzer, but the Lady Raiders made key defensive stops late to secure the three-point win.

Kylie Harner led all scorers with an outstanding all-around performance, finishing with 17 points and 5 steals. Adilynne Gregg controlled the paint with 5 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Balanced scoring also came from Rylan Norviel, Daylin Varner, and Paislee Rodenberger, who each added 4 points.

Indian Lake scoring leaders:

  • Alivia Kinney — 10 points

  • Rya Pequignot — 9 points

The Lady Raiders are back in action Saturday night at Graham, with JV tipping off at 6:00 PM followed by the varsity contest.

The Lady Lakers will look to bounce back Saturday against Shawnee.

VARSITY BOYS — Indian Lake 59, Benjamin Logan 45

Indian Lake defeated Benjamin Logan 59–45 Friday night in the boys portion of the CBC doubleheader.

The Lakers were led by Brodey Reisinger with 21 points, Avery Pequignot with 16, and Cooper Hall with 12.

  • Roman Maxwell – 10 points, 3 rebounds

  • Peyton Vermillion – 8 points, 4 rebounds

The Raiders fought hard but couldn’t keep pace with Indian Lake down the stretch.

VARSITY BOYS — West Liberty-Salem 60, West Jefferson 40

West Liberty-Salem Varsity (8–3 overall, 6–2 OHC) earned a convincing 60–40 win over West Jefferson on Friday night.

VARSITY BOYS — Yellow Springs 49, Calvary Christian 37

Calvary Christian took on Yellow Springs in a conference matchup Friday night.

The Spartans dropped a hard-fought contest by a final score of 49–37.

Nehemiah Dillon led Calvary Christian with 13 points, while Evan Schmidt added 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Abel Davie contributed 9 points in the paint.

JV BOYS — Calvary Christian 41, Yellow Springs 33

The Calvary Christian JV Spartans picked up a 41–33 win over Yellow Springs.

Scoring leaders:

  • Kole Gantz – 16 points

  • Aiden Keller – 13 points

  • Sam Mihoci – 8 points

Seth Palmer turned in a tremendous all-around performance with 4 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 steals.

The Spartans return to action Saturday night against Waynesfield-Goshen.
