Raiders stay unbeaten after tri-match sweep, Lakers win thrillers over Tigers; Saturday volleyball scores

Several area volleyball teams were in action Saturday, with Benjamin Logan’s varsity team earning two victories at a tri-match, while Indian Lake picked up wins over West Liberty-Salem. Bellefontaine’s 7th grade team also defeated Jonathan Alder, while Riverside dropped both matches to Fairlawn.

Benjamin Logan wins two at River Valley tri-match

The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders picked up two straight-set victories Saturday at a tri-match hosted by River Valley High School.

Benjamin Logan opened the day against River Valley, earning a 2-0 victory with set scores of 25-22 and 25-17.

The Raiders then faced North Ridge and battled through a competitive opening set before securing another sweep, winning 26-24 and 25-14.

With the two victories, Benjamin Logan continued its strong start to the season with a perfect 5-0 record.

Varsity – Indian Lake 3, West Liberty-Salem 2

The Indian Lake Lady Lakers picked up a thrilling five-set victory over West Liberty-Salem Saturday, winning 26-24, 20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-11. Indian Lake moves to 2-3 while the Tigers fall to 2-2.

Mackenzie Miller led the Lakers with 14 kills, 39 digs, two blocks and three aces.

Alivia Kinney added 12 kills and two blocks, while Madison Davis finished with 11 kills, two blocks, five digs and an ace.

Cami Bailey recorded 11 kills, 12 digs, a block and four aces. Courtney Altstaetter added six kills, two blocks and a dig.

Addyson Roby directed the offense with 48 assists and added two kills, 22 digs and an ace.

Quinn Imm contributed 15 digs and two assists, while Piper Warnecke finished with nine digs.

JV – Indian Lake 2, West Liberty-Salem 0

The Indian Lake JV Lady Lakers swept West Liberty-Salem in two sets, 25-18 and 25-23.

Claire Tidwell led the Lakers with six kills.

Audra Harfore and Haileigh Penix each added four kills, with Penix also recording four blocks.

Lux Kipker had 10 assists, while Layna Nessler added seven assists and four digs.

Ayla Brentlinger finished with seven digs and an ace, while Taylor Duff contributed three kills, two aces and three digs.

Freshman – Indian Lake 2, West Liberty-Salem 0

The Indian Lake freshman team also swept the Tigers, winning 25-14 and 25-11.

Adeline Schulz and Carsyn Warnecke each recorded four kills. Warnecke also had 10 digs.

Samantha Altstaetter added a kill and two digs, while Julie Wolf contributed two aces and two digs.

Reese Imm finished with eight digs.

7th Grade – Bellefontaine 2, Jonathan Alder 0

The Bellefontaine 7th grade Chieftains defeated Jonathan Alder in two sets, 25-13 and 25-16.

Bexley Daring led the Chieftains with 11 digs, 11-for-13 passing and four aces.

Devyn Hogan added six kills, 12 digs, three assists and an ace.

Emma Layman was 2-for-2 passing and finished with two digs, a block, 10 assists and two aces.

Harper Oakley added three kills, while Evan Irick also had three kills.

Miley McKirahan recorded a kill, while Brooklyn Mosley contributed three digs and a kill.

Lariah Valencia was 4-for-5 passing with three digs.

The Chieftains improve to 5-1.

8th Grade – Benjamin Logan 2, Indian Lake 0

The Benjamin Logan 8th grade team defeated Indian Lake in two sets, 26-24 and 25-12.

The Lady Raiders battled through a close opening set before pulling away in the second.

7th Grade – Indian Lake 2, Benjamin Logan 0

The Indian Lake 7th grade Lady Lakers defeated Benjamin Logan in two sets, 25-21 and 25-8.

Indian Lake finished the match strong after a competitive opening set.

8th Grade – Fairlawn 2, Riverside 0

Fairlawn also defeated the Riverside 8th grade team in two sets, 25-9 and 25-13.

Brylee Shephard scored two points with an ace.

Bella Shultz added three points and two aces, while Paloma Quixan contributed two points.

The Pirates will travel to Northridge Monday for a conference matchup with the Polar Bears.

7th Grade – Fairlawn 2, Riverside 0

Riverside traveled to Fairlawn Saturday, with the Jets earning a two-set victory over the Pirates, 25-8 and 25-8.

April Tryloff scored two points and had an ace.

Kylie Godshall added two points, while Stella Shultz recorded one point and an ace.
