Raiders top Coldwater; Chiefs Rally to beat Anna

The Benjamin Logan Raiders found victory on Saturday over Coldwater, 7-4.

The Raiders opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to three singles.

Benjamin Logan collected 10 hits overall in the game.

Bryden Morris led the Raiders with 2 RBIs. Morris and Anthony Griffith each collected two hits for Benjamin Logan.

Morris earned the win for Benjamin Logan giving up just four hits and three runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking two.

Mason Welsch took the loss for Coldwater.

He only lasted one inning, allowing four runs on four hits, striking out two, and walking two.

Adam Tinsman collected the save.

The Raiders play next at home on Tuesday against Wapakoneta.

Despite trailing by as many as four runs in the first of two games, the Bellefontaine Chiefs rallied to top Anna 9-5 on Saturday.

Anna started strong in the first when induced Troy Wolters hit into a fielder’s choice, allowing a run to score.

Anna scored three runs in the top of the third on a home run to left field by Aiden Keller.

Bellefontaine tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to back-to-back singles by Spencer Stolly and Beckham Harman, a double by Brody Boy, and an RBI ground out by Jose Sandoval.

An error gave Anna the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fourth.

Bellefontaine regained the lead, 8-5, in the bottom of the fourth when Spencer Stolly singled, scoring two runs, Beckham Harman doubled, scoring one run, and Brody Boy drew a walk, scoring another.

Luke Levan allowed seven hits and five runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking two for the win.

Spencer Stolly pitched three innings of zero-run ball in relief.

Kale Hoying collects the loss for Anna giving up seven hits and seven runs over three and two-thirds innings, with no strikeouts and a walk.

Game two was a tight battle until the seventh, when Anna broke a 2-2 tie with three late runs to take the win, 5-2.

Luke Levan’s clutch RBI single in the sixth helped tie the game, but Anna responded in the final inning.

The Chiefs are back in action Wednesday when they host Benjamin Logan.

The Indian Lake Lakers traveled to St. Mary’s to take on Memorial. Despite a 2 for 3 effort with a double and triple from senior shortstop Madden Lillard, the Lakers were still unable to put anyone across the plate, losing to the Rough Riders, 2-0.

Memorial’s Joel Kogge claimed the win for the Roughriders, pitching 6 solid innings, allowing 2 hits, and striking out 7.

He only allowed 4 base-runners.

Indian Lake will look for their first win of the season when they host Bath on Tuesday night.

Riverside traveled to Ridgemont Saturday for a doubleheader with the Gophers.

The Pirates came away with wins in both games.

In the 1st game, Riverside posted a 4-1 victory behind the pitching performance of Brody Orsborne.

The right-hander struck out 10, walking none, and surrendering only 4 hits over 4 and 1/3 innings.

Syler Clark came in and pitched 2 and 2/3 Innings of shutout relief striking out 4 and walking none.

Hayden McCully led the Pirates offense with 3 hits and 2 runs driven in.

Cooper Crouch also reached base 3 out of 4 times walking twice and doubling.

Xavier Stuck took the loss for Ridgemont on the mound going 5 innings striking out 6 while giving up 4 hits and 3 runs.

Ethan Moore contributed 2 hits to Gopher’s offense.

In the 2nd game of the afternoon Riverside won a back-and-forth affair 11-9.

The Pirates plated 6 runs in the 6th and 7th innings to rally past Ridgemont. Cooper Crouch led the offense going 3 for 4 with 3 runs driven in and 2 stolen bases.

Aiden Manning drove in 4 runs while Landon Purtee had a double a single and 2 walks scoring 2 runs to assist the Riverside win.

Syler Clark picked up the win for the Pirates from the mound going 3 and 2/3 innings striking out 4 and walking none.

Riverside returns to action Tuesday at Frosty Brown Field in New Carlisle against Bethel.
