Raiders win both games of DH — Baseball Finals

In a doubleheader on Saturday, Benjamin Logan stole the lead late in the game in an 8-4 victory over Franklin Monroe.

The game was tied at four with The Raiders batting in the bottom of the fifth when Hayden Kennaw doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring three runs.

The Raiders fired up the offense in the first inning, when Trey Miracle singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Luke McKenrick earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Benjamin Logan. The righty surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Hunter Peterson started the game for The Raiders. Peterson lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out seven

Benjamin Logan tallied eight hits on the day. Kennaw and Colin Powell each collected multiple hits. Powell and Kennaw each collected two hits.

The Raiders didn’t commit a single error in the field. Miracle had the most chances in the field with ten.

In the second game, The Raiders claimed a 16-3 victory, despite a big push by Ansonia in the first inning.

Benjamin Logan pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning.

In the second Keaton Horney tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, Colin Powell singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run, and Trey Miracle homered on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

The Raiders scored six runs in the fourth inning. The team’s offense in the inning came from singles by Powell, Luke McKenrick, and #10, a walk by Horney, and an error on a ball put in play by Preston Bothel.

Bryden Morris took the win for The Raiders. The pitcher surrendered three runs on six hits over five innings, striking out four.

The Raiders smacked one home run on the day. Miracle went for the long ball in the second inning.

The team tallied 11 hits in the game. Miracle, Powell, Morris, and EJ Martin each managed multiple hits for Benjamin Logan. Martin, Morris, Powell, and Miracle each collected two hits.

Benjamin Logan was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Miracle had the most chances in the field with four.

Riverside traveled to Northwestern on Saturday for a non-league game against the Warriors and lost 3-2.

The Pirates took an early 1-run lead when Kaleb Schindewolf singled in a run in the top of the 2nd inning.

Northwestern tied the game at 1 in the bottom of the 3rd on a Pirates error. Riverside was able to take the lead back in the top of the 4th inning scoring 1 run on a Warriors throwing error.

Riverside relinquished the lead in the bottom of the 4th on a pair of errors pushing Northwestern’s lead to 3-2. That score would stand as Riverside was able to get the tying run to third base in the 7th inning but couldn’t push it across.

Warren Shockey pitched a complete game for The Pirates going 6 innings giving up 7 hits with no walks and 9 strikeouts. All 3 runs given up by Shockey were unearned.

Riverside stands at 4-3 in TRC league play and 6-9 overall.
