Riverside and Bellefontaine Kick off Season with Wins; Benjamin Logan Falls


Riverside opened their baseball season Monday night with a 6-5 walk-off win at home against Northeastern.

The Pirates won as Sam King delivered the walk-off game-winning base hit in the bottom of the 7th driving in Dom Stotler.

King started the game on the mound for the Pirates going 5 and 1/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 5 runs while striking out 8.

Cooper Crouch stepped in and picked up the win in relief for Riverside going 1 and 2/3rds innings giving up 0 runs and striking out 1.

Gavin Orsborne, King, and Crouch each contributed singles in the win.

The Pirates return to action Thursday at home against Dayton Northridge.


The Bellefontaine Chiefs beat Lima Bath 9-3.

Alex Crabill began the game for Bellefontaine Chiefs.

He gave up two hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking two.

Skyler Lihamon stepped on the hill first for Lima Bath.

The righty allowed one hit and four runs (one earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking six.

Jose Sandoval appeared in relief for Bellefontaine Chiefs.

Chris Fogan went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Bellefontaine Chiefs in hits. Larison and Carter Caudill each drove in two runs for Bellefontaine Chiefs.

Neer paced Bellefontaine Chiefs with three walks.

Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing 10 walks for the game.

Neer, Fogan, Patrick Stolly, and Jose Sandoval each stole multiple bases for Bellefontaine Chiefs.

Bellefontaine Chiefs ran wild on the base paths, accumulating 12 stolen bases for the game.


The Benjamin Logan Varsity Raiders fell to Coldwater 13-3.

Ethan Martin led the Raiders with two runs and Anthony Griffith scored one.
