Riverside High School recently honored two former student-athletes, Jerilyn Thompson and Dalton Bollinger, by inducting them into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
Both have left lasting legacies in their respective sports and continue to inspire the next generation of athletes.
Jerilyn Thompson
A 1975 Riverside graduate, Jerilyn was a standout in basketball, volleyball, and track and field. As a member of the varsity girls’ basketball team for all four years, she helped lead the team to undefeated seasons in 1972-73 and 1973-74.
Jerilyn’s senior year saw her set a Riverside girls’ basketball record with an average of 29.7 points per game, a record that still stands today.
She also scored 49 points in a game, another record that endures.
Jerilyn went on to play college basketball at Ohio State University and Ohio Northern University, where she led the team in scoring during the 1979-80 season.
Dalton Bollinger
Dalton, a 2014 graduate, excelled in both baseball and basketball.
In baseball, he earned All-State honors all three years, finishing his high school career with a .508 batting average and 165 hits, ranking among Ohio’s top players.
He was also named NWCC Player of the Year three times.
Dalton went on to play baseball at the University of Toledo, where he ranked in the top 10 in school history for career hits and doubles.
After college, he coached baseball at the University of Saint Francis and the University of Toledo.
Dalton now runs Bollinger Baseball and Softball Instruction in Sidney, helping young athletes reach their full potential.
The induction of these two athletes celebrates their hard work, dedication, and significant contributions to Riverside athletics.
