Riverside welcomed young athletes to campus over the past few weeks, hosting its first-ever baseball camp in April and the second annual Lady Pirates softball camp in March, with both events drawing strong participation from across the area.
The inaugural Riverside baseball camp was held Sunday, April 12, at Riverside High School and featured 42 campers from four different schools. Open to players ages 6 through 12, the camp focused on the fundamentals of fielding, catching, and hitting, giving participants a well-rounded introduction to the game. The camp was free to attend and was led by the RHS varsity baseball coaching staff, along with support from former varsity players Gavin Osborne and Gavin Robinson, current varsity players Camden Shoe, Hayden McCully, Syler Clark, Cooper Crouch, and Brody Osborne, and eighth-grade standout Brayden Harshbarger.

Earlier in the spring, Riverside hosted its second annual Lady Pirates Softball Camp on Sunday, March 22, at the school’s new Activity Center. The three-hour camp welcomed 60 campers from five different school districts and focused on developing skills in infield, outfield, and hitting drills. Like the baseball camp, the event was free and made possible through the efforts of Riverside coaches, former players, current players, and community members.

Both camps highlighted Riverside’s commitment to growing youth participation in athletics, while giving young players the opportunity to learn from experienced coaches and athletes in a positive, community-focused environment.
