The Riverside Junior High volleyball teams opened their season on the road, traveling to Indian Lake for their first matches of the year.
The 7th-grade Lady Pirates battled hard but fell to a strong Indian Lake squad in straight sets, 12–25 and 8–25.
Leading the way for Riverside was Bella Shulz with 4 points, including 2 aces. Bella Monnin added 1 point.
The 8th-grade team also came up short, dropping their match by scores of 9–25 and 9–25.
Stat leaders for the 8th grade included:
- Lilli Hanes, 2 points
- Aliya Salo, 1 point with 1 ace
- Annabell O’Neal, 1 point and 1 dig
- Izzy Hudson, 1 dig
- Sofia Butler, 1 block and 1 kill
- Gracie Rench, 1 kill
Riverside returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Botkins.
