The Riverside Junior High Pirates suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday evening, falling to the Northridge Polar Bears 32-12.
With the loss, Riverside drops to 5-1 on the season after opening the year with five straight victories.
Charlie Varian led the Pirates offensively, scoring a touchdown on the ground and throwing another touchdown pass to Coy Yelton.
Riverside battled throughout the game against a tough Northridge team and continued to show the effort and toughness that has been a key part of the Pirates’ strong season.
Despite the loss, Riverside has put together an impressive 5-1 start and will have a chance to get back in the win column next week.
The Pirates will hit the road to take on Troy Christian as they look to bounce back and continue their strong season.
