On Tuesday, Riverside’s volleyball teams traveled to Troy Christian for league matchups, with mixed results for the 7th and 8th-grade squads.
The 7th-grade team secured a victory, winning in two sets 25-20 and 25-19.
Bella Shultz led the team with 13 points, including nine aces.
Kinsley Crawford contributed six points and three aces, while Bella Monnin added three points and one ace.
Avery Wheeler and Gracie Popp each scored two points, with Wheeler also recording a kill and two aces.
The 8th-grade team fell in a hard-fought match, losing in two sets 16-25 and 22-25.
Riverside’s top performers included Sofia Butler with eight points and four aces, Bella Robinson with five points and four aces, and Izzy Hudson with three points, two aces, and a dig.
Aliya Salo added two points and two aces, Lillian Jackson scored two points, and Lillianne Hanes contributed one point with an ace.
Riverside will return to action on Thursday, traveling to Sidney Lehman for another conference matchup.
The West Liberty-Salem 8th-grade Lady Tigers volleyball team kept their undefeated season alive Tuesday night, improving to 5-0 with a straight-set win over West Jefferson, 25-11 and 25-20.
The Tigers tallied 17 kills, 9 aces, 28 digs, and 11 assists in the victory.
In the 7th-grade match, West Jefferson came out on top in two sets.
The Lady Tigers drop to 1-4 on the season.
Both WL-S teams will be back in action on Wednesday on the road at Southeastern, with matches starting at 5:30.
