The Riverside Lady Pirates could not keep pace with Indian Lake Friday night, falling 4-1 to the Lakers.
Riverside scored first with an Emilee Robinson solo home run to left field in the first.
The Lakers responded when Abigail Elliott hit an RBI single to center field in the second to help Indian Lake tie the game at one.
Mackenzie Dixon tagged up on a sacrifice fly to give Indian Lake the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third.
Brylee Buyer and Halle Roby each drove runs to secure the Indian Lake victory.
Bre Wisener earned the win for Indian Lake.
The pitcher gave up one hit and one run over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking two.
Keira Manahan took the loss for Riverside Varsity Pirates.
The starting pitcher went six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out five and walking none.
Riverside is at Ridgemont on Saturday, while Indian Lake rests for a Tuesday game in Kenton.
Riverside Varsity Baseball had a similar fate as they opened their season at home against Waynesfield-Goshen Friday night with a 4-2 loss.
Cooper Crouch and Hayden McCully each doubled for the Pirates as Riverside outhit Waynesfield 6-5.
Landon Purtee took the loss going 3 innings giving up 3 hits and 2 runs.
Cam Shoe came on and threw 3 stellar innings for the Pirates giving up 1 hit and striking out 6 allowing the Pirates the chance to close the gap but they just couldn’t get the key hit to rally.
Jace Kaufman picked up the win for the Tigers, going the distance, allowing 2 runs and striking out 12.
Riverside is back on the diamond Saturday with a doubleheader at Ridgemont.
